Battlefield 2042 is a multiplayer first-person shooter by developer Dice, where you take part in huge battles in the near future. So up to 128 players can participate in matches from the different game modes, for example to compete in the formats Conquest and Breakthrough or Team Deathmatch. In addition, Battlefield Hazard Zone comes with a completely new game mode, in which you work together with a small squad to complete various missions. The gaming experience is rounded off by contemporary graphics with smooth animations, spectacular effects, high-resolution textures and large field of view. No wonder then that many players are wondering what system requirements Battlefield 2042 places on the PC's hardware.
Dice has so far been tight-lipped about the system requirements. But now Tom Henderson has published a tweet in which he describes the system requirements in detail, without revealing how he came by this sensitive data. However, Henderson's publication is likely to be true, as he is known as a connoisseur of the scene. A look at the hardware requirements quickly reveals that Battlefield 2042 will put your PC to the test.
Battlefield 2042 Minimum and Recommended System Requirements
So, according to the rumor, you need at least a GeForce 1050 Ti or a comparable model with 4GB of video memory that supports DirectX 12 for your graphics card. An Intel Core i5 6600K is again named as the minimum system requirement. In addition, 8 GB of RAM should be enough to play Battlefield 2042. But if you want to enjoy Battlefield 2042 in all its graphic splendor, you need the latest technology, according to Henderson. So here an Intel Core i7 4790 or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT and 16 GB of RAM are named as the requirements. These requirements also quickly make it clear why Dice decided to develop a shortened version for the last console generation, while the versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X are the same as the PC version.
Nevertheless, Dice managed to keep the minimum requirements so low that even a two- to three-year-old gaming PC should be able to handle the game. So all we can do is wait to see if Henderson's tweet is confirmed and the hardware requirements turn out as stated.
The title itself is aimed at all users who enjoy action-packed multiplayer shooters. Battlefield 2042 should appeal to players who just want to play a quick round in between as well as users who like to collect experience points and improve their own equipment. But if you value realism or have little to do with the setting of the near future, there are probably better alternatives in the genre at the moment.
The Swedish developer Dice not only produced the games of the Battlefield series in the past. Rather, the team, which now belongs to EA, also developed classics such as Midtown Madness 3, Mirror’s Edge, Medal of Honour and Star Wars Battlefront. If you are now interested in Battlefield 2042 and want to plunge into huge battles yourself, you will find the cheapest Battlefield 2042 key here.
