The Steam Deck came out on the market in February 2022 and is a great competitor to the classic handheld consoles. But so far the Steam Deck is limited to the Steam library, which of course makes sense. However, thanks to emulators, it is also possible to run retro games from the past on the Steam Deck.
We'll show you exactly how to install emulators on the Steam Deck.
Instructions for installing emulators on the Steam Deck:
- Hold down the power button on the Steam Deck until a menu appears
- Select the "to desktop" option
- The device will now restart and be in desktop mode
- Open the Discover App
- Install one of the emulators displayed
- Start the installed emulator
Popular emulators from the Discovery App are
- Dolphin (Nintendo GameCube)

- Yuzu (Nintendo Switch)
