Starbound is the mostly procedurally generated 2D action adventure game from Chucklefish, the studio behind Wargroove. You wake up on a spaceship and the earth is destroyed. But when you discover a portal on an unknown planet, a whole galaxy of new worlds opens up for you. Starbound is officially available for Microsoft Windows, Linux and MacOS since July 2016.

Starbound is played in sandbox style. That means, you are free to fulfill the given main missions, or just visit different planets and experience little adventures. Everywhere you can meet non-player characters who give you quests. You can also use the environment on the different planets for agriculture, build your own buildings and even rent them to non-player characters. As you roam the worlds, items and enemies are generated procedurally. This creates a different, varied experience every time. The overall goal is the exploration of all races and their special artifacts. Otherwise you can move freely in space. You can design your spaceship as you wish and claim a large number of weapons and equipment for yourself. The simple but colorful graphics are reminiscent of Terraria.
