Surviving in the cold - The story The Long
Dark is an open-world survival game in which you play a pilot who crashes on a routine flight over Canada. Without radio contact and orientation the pilot - called William Mackenzie - tries to establish contact with civilization and above all to ensure his survival in the middle of the wilderness.

Many factors are taken into account: body temperature, wind chill, calorie intake and wildlife are just a few of them.
The game can be played in two modes: While the sandbox mode does not follow a story and aims only at survival, the story mode Wintermute offers a fixed story that explains the background and where he can interact with other people.
