Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC
The release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC is November 05, 2019 and is therefore just around the corner. We have taken a closer look at the PC version of the game, which is only available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One so far, and summarized the pros and cons.
Many of the improvements that come with RDR 2 on PC will only be accessible to computer gamers in the future. Rockstar Games has turned the graphics screws even tighter here and promises even better textures than the console versions.
Significantly better textures and effects are one of the improvements that Rockstar Games has in store for PC gamers. This is made possible by the stronger hardware that is or can be installed in the PC, because gamers with an older computer will have to do without it. Of course, these can still play Red Dead Redemption on the PC, but they have to turn the graphics settings down significantly.
Greater visibility for the PC version of RDR 2 is another benefit that is only possible through better hardware. But here too it should be noted that a correspondingly high performance is required.
Minimum system requirements
Despite all this, the minimum system requirements are not particularly high. If you want to take a look before November 05 to see if you need a new graphics card or CPU after all, you can take a look at the official system requirements for RDR 2 on PC:
You should have at least Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 installed as your operating system to get a good gaming experience. For older versions there are no details but we assume that the game will not start there at all.
- Processor: Intel Core i5 2500K or AMD FX-6300
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Geforce GTX 770 2GB or Radeon R9 280 3GB
- Free hard disk space: 150 GB
New Content in the PC Version
Red Dead Redemption comes to the PC with the complete package of content. This means that in addition to the over 50-hour single-player campaign, the online mode Red Dead Online will also be released directly.
The campaign even gets three new bounty missions, two new gang hideouts to clean up, and two new treasure maps at release.
Photo mode is reserved for the PC and will not come to PS4 or Xbox One. With photo mode, you can not only take quick snapshots, but also impressive snapshots, which can be further customized with filter settings, just like in GTA Online.
New Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Launch Trailer
In the latest trailer for RDR 2 on the PC, Rockstar Games shows what the PC version looks like in maximum graphics settings. For those who have never seen the game, there is also a first good impression of the game itself.
Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam
As mentioned in an earlier post, RDR 2 will be released on Steam this December. Until then, you'll either have to put up with the Rockstar Launcher or switch directly to Google's streaming service Google Stadia.
