Alan Wake 2 is coming – When is the release date?
The sequel to the eerie action-adventure game Alan Wake by Remedy Entertainment is in the works and we can't wait to dive back into the fictional town of Bright Falls with our favorite thriller author. In a PlayStation Blog post announcing the sequel, Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy Entertainment, explained that Alan Wake 2 will be more of a survival horror game than an action game with horror elements. So, fans can expect something even spookier when Alan Wake 2 is released. The question remains, though: When will this highly anticipated game actually come out?
The release date for Alan Wake 2 is set for October 2023, according to voice actor Matthew Porretta. In an interview on the Monsters, Magic and Madness Podcast, the actor who voices the main character claims that Alan Wake 2 is focusing on the spooky release window.
A survival horror game is expected
In a recent update from Remedy on their financial report, it was stated that the game is still on track for this year and is "approaching the final phase of full production". Alan Wake 2 will be Remedy's first major game since Control in 2019 and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The reveal trailer gives a first glimpse
When Alan Wake 2 was announced at the Game Awards in December 2021, we got a glimpse of the game's atmosphere through the reveal trailer. At this point, there is no gameplay footage of Alan Wake 2 yet. However, we do know that Alan Wake 2 will be a third-person game, just like the first one. This was confirmed by Sam Lake in a tweet.
The genre has changed
The game will also be a full-fledged survival horror game, rather than a horror action game like the original Alan Wake on Xbox 360.
