Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED Series - Amazon expands its Fire TV lineup

Amazon has recently expanded its in-house Fire TV lineup with new sizes and affordable options. The online giant released its first self-branded Fire TV models back in September 2021 with the announcement of the first generation of the Fire TV Omni series and the Fire TV 4 series.

The Fire TV Omni QLED series is now available in 43, 50, and 55-inch options, in addition to the already existing sizes of 65 and 75 inches (with the 75-inch version currently only available in the USA). These new models have the same features as their larger siblings, supporting HDR with Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive, as well as up to 96-zone local dimming. They are also equipped with far-field microphones to receive Alexa voice commands. Additionally, there is a feature called 'Ambient Experience' that automatically turns on and off depending on whether someone is in the room or not.

Enhanced Ambient Mode

The new 'Ambient Experience' feature allows users to view their schedule with calendars and reminders, leave notes for family members, control smart devices, play audio from streaming services, and much more. When the TV is in idle mode, users can also view artwork from a vast digital art gallery. Amazon has added over 1,700 free artworks for this purpose, including many from prestigious institutions such as the National Gallery of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.

New Fire TV 2 Series for Affordable Price Options

Amazon is also introducing a new Fire TV 2 Series, which is positioned at the lower end of its TV portfolio. Customers have two sizes to choose from: 32 and 40 inches. While the former comes with a 720p HD panel, the latter features a 1080p Full HD screen. Both versions support HDR 10, HLG, and Dolby Digital Audio. Additionally, they come equipped with the Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote.

Availability and Prices

The new models are now available on Amazon. Prices for the new Omni series models start at €399. The Fire TV 2 series is also available now, with the base model priced at €189. With these new models, Amazon aims to reach a wider audience interested in every price range, and better compete against similar products from Roku.
