Anno 1800 - The plans of the developers for 2021

Between 1998 and today, seven parts of the popular Anno strategy series have been released, which is now developed by Blue Byte. Anno 1800 was released in 2019 and has since received DLC expansions such as Sunken Treasures, Botanica, and Palaces of Power. The third season pass was announced for 2021. Players can expect three new DLCs.

The plans for 2021

As early as 2008, Blue Byte cooperated with Related Designs on Anno 1404 - since then, titles in the series such as Anno 2070 or Anno 2205 have been released by the German development studio. In 2019, the strategy game Anno 1800 followed, which catapulted the players into the time of the industrial revolution and thus returned from the futuristic to the historical setting of Anno.

Available for Windows PCs, Anno 1800 relied on established virtues in a modernized form. So the players were again allowed to build their settlements strategically on islands - and enjoy the benefits of a story campaign as well as a free game mode.

Since the release, two season passes with DLC have been released in the meantime - including releases such as Sunken Treasures, Botanica, Palaces of Power and Land of the Lions. The development of the expansions was also influenced by the so-called Anno Union, a community for passionate fans of Anno who were able to give feedback during development. Development of content for Anno 1800 is not over yet in 2021.

So, for the year of the Season Pass 3 was presented. Blue Byte announced three different DLCs for the third pass, which were created in exchange with the Anno Union. Together with the DLCs, free game updates are to follow, which will further optimize the gaming experience. Whether the third season pass will cost 25 euros like the second pass has not yet been confirmed. However, the developers promise after exotic locations such as the Arctic and Enbesa in previous DLCs now a return to the core content of the game. There will be no new regions this time.

For Anno 1800, this means that 2021 is not the end. Fans can look forward to a third season pass, which is to offer three new expansion content. The content is not yet specified, but it should lead away from exotic locations to the core of the game. In addition, more free game updates are coming to keep the gaming experience up to date.

Who is Anno 1800 for?

Anno 1800 is also aimed at passionate strategy gamers with the third DLC. The series has a long tradition that goes back to the 90s. The task is to build a civilization on uninhabited islands and to optimize it economically and militarily in a strategic way. Unlike its two predecessors, Anno plays again in a historical period.

What is Blue Byte known for?

At the latest since the fifth part, the German development studio Blue Byte is responsible for the development of the Anno series. The developer has experience with strategy games far away from Anno: The Settlers series comes from Blue Byte. The studio was also involved in the development of the mobile game Assassin's Creed: Identity (2014).
