Ubisoft's Anno 1800 and the new Steam achievements
The popular city-building game Anno 1800 by Ubisoft has finally received Steam achievements. Last year, the developer and publisher announced that a number of its games would be available on the Valve store, after previously being exclusive to the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. The Steam achievements are undoubtedly a great addition for fans of the game.
Retrospective unlocking of achievements
The Steam achievements for Anno 1800 should be retroactively unlockable. The update history on SteamDB suggests that the achievements were added on April 12th. The game's last update was on April 4th, so it seems that these achievements were suddenly added.
112 achievements await players
The Steam version of Anno 1800 now has a total of 112 achievements. These range from stockpiling certain foods and resources to some more specific unlocks through DLCs. So if you're looking for a reason to dive back in and skyrocket your Steam achievement list, there's no better time than now.
Anno 1800 was briefly available for free
Since its return to Steam, Anno 1800 was available for free for a week - though not in the Valve Store - and there was even a pretty big Steam sale. So the city-building game is definitely not a forgotten management game.
No guarantee of Steam achievements in other Ubisoft games
However, it should not be assumed that all Ubisoft games switched to Steam will receive achievements, as there are no indications from the publisher that this is the plan. Although Steam achievements undoubtedly enhance the gaming experience, it is not something to rely on for Ubisoft games in the store as a whole.
