Aquatico update brings fresh new features to the game
If you haven't played Aquatico yet, now is the perfect time to do so! The underwater city-building game on Steam has received a major update that brings interesting new features for all players – whether you're a newcomer or a veteran. The second major Aquatico update adds an extensive story quest that spans the entire game, as well as the ability to play in free-form creative mode.
Two new game modes for even more variety
The Aquatico update includes two completely new game modes. When starting a new game, you now have the choice between three different options. The first is the sandbox mode, which previous Aquatico players will be familiar with. The second option, the story mode, is very similar, but includes the Atlantis Project campaign – a long, story-driven questline that runs throughout your entire campaign.
The mysterious Atlantis Project campaign
The development team understandably doesn't want to reveal too many details, but explains that the Atlantis Project "is an incredible undertaking led jointly by all the scattered underwater colonies," of which your settlement is just one. The Atlantis missions each have their own separate objectives and allow you to interact with a variety of unique characters and introduce additional research projects, while you work to "create something that is capable of ensuring a permanent future for humanity."
Relaxed creative mode for stress-free building
The creative mode goes in the completely opposite direction, removing most of the challenges of the main sandbox and story modes to give you the freedom to build your perfect underwater kingdom. Rules are adjusted, resources are infinite, there is an endless supply of people and drones, all research projects and buildings are unlocked, and you won't experience any challenges or disasters. It's the perfect way to relax and enjoy the peaceful pleasure of building without stress or hassle.
Aquatico update now available on Steam
The Aquatico update is now available on Steam. It also includes new voice recordings, cutscenes, sub-selections in the building menu, changes to biome maps (including a new map), as well as some balancing and bug fixes. The team has provided a full changelog on their Steam page. If you don't have the game yet, you can purchase it here.
