Going Back to the Roots with a New Hero
NOW AVAILABLE! While working on the next installment of the series, we as fans asked ourselves which Assassin's Creed game we would most like to play. Many of us wanted to revisit some of the old imagery, narrative themes, and gameplay mechanics that made us fall in love with the franchise. After 15 years of traveling through different eras, we wanted to go back to the origins of Assassin's Creed. The new game introduces a new playable hero, Basim, and pays homage to the series' roots.
The Setting: Baghdad in the 9th Century
We return to the Middle East, specifically to Baghdad in the 9th century, 300 years before Altair's time. The story follows Basim and how he became a master assassin.
Parkour and Stealth: The Central Game Elements
Parkour is a central element of the game, providing fluid movements as seen in the Ezio games. New and familiar elements return, such as quickly reaching higher ground or crossing large gaps between rooftops. Another focus of the game is stealth: players are encouraged to work in the shadows, plan their next move, strike, and then disappear. There are more opportunities for assassinations with new killing animations. Some require a stealthy approach, while others deliver a violent deathblow.
Improved AI and New Enemy Archetypes
The enemy AI has been revamped to improve detection and make guards more alert. New enemy archetypes increase the difficulty level.
The Return of Social Stealth
Social stealth makes a return: players can hide in large crowds or bribe small groups to pass through guarded areas unnoticed. As an assassin, the main objective is to eliminate the Order of the Ancients and free Baghdad from their influence.
Hidden Offices and Investigation Board
In the game, the Hidden Ones have established a network of offices throughout the city to keep an eye on the Order. The offices serve as game focal points, from which side missions with various objectives can be accepted. The new investigation board replaces the previous quest log, and the so-called "black box" missions give players the freedom to approach important assassination missions as they see fit.
Nostalgia Galore: Visual Filter
