Assassins Creed Valhalla - new world, new combat system, new adventure

A brand new, spectacular adventure awaits you from November 17th, 2020: With Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a brand new part of the world-famous Assassin's Creed series will be released. You can find out all the news, the story and the release date in this post.

As with the eleven previous games, you control a real assassin in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, who can be described as a kind of hitman. You take on various missions, fight against guards and other enemies, and acrobatically swing through cities and nature. The world is not just any world: each part of the series is set in a specific, past time at a selected location, which combines fiction and historical reality. For example, in Assassin's Creed Unity you can see the Notre Dame cathedral, which burned down in 2019. In fact, the architects responsible for the construction work on the church use the detailed model from Assassin's Creed as a template.

Unlike its predecessor from 2014, Valhalla does not take place in France, but in the Anglo-Saxon kingdom, which corresponds to the present-day United Kingdom around England and Scotland. You play the Viking raider Eivor, who you can customize to your liking. Even the choice of the main character's gender is up to you for the first time.

Valhalla is mainly about the eternal struggle between the assassins and the Templars, who are now called "The Hidden" and "The Order of the Ancients". So far, only the name of the first main mission has been released, which is based on the poem "The Legend of Beowulf". Since the poem deals with dragons, among other things, it is suspected that you will also meet the fictional monster with Eivor. Furthermore, it is assumed that large parts of the game will take place on the water, as is customary for Vikings. It is quite possible that spectacular ship battles will be repeated on the high seas, as in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. However, one thing is certain: the story of the new part will mix realistic conditions from the English 9th century with fictional inventions, resulting in a great plot.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla promises more new features to look forward to, including the combat system and weapon selection. For one, the "Hidden Blade" makes a comeback: the small sword hidden on Eivor's wrist under their clothing allows you to make a stealthy, unnoticed attack on unsuspecting enemies.

The dual-wielding system also makes a return in Valhalla. This allows Eivor to carry two weapons at the same time, which you can choose and customize to your liking. In addition, ranged weapons such as throwing axes and bows offer new possibilities for combat, making Assassin's Creed Valhalla a new experience even for old fans.

The homeland also plays an important role in the game, as the village grows as the game progresses. Many plot threads begin and end in the settlement, forcing you to make regular visits to your idyllic homeland.

The numerous new features in Assassin's Creed Valhalla make the game attractive for both the old community and newcomers. The vast game world promises a lot of action for everyone, which in combination with the realistic conditions provides an breathtaking gaming experience. Even the new combat system, which brings back many familiar weapons and mechanics, is evidence of the developers' creativity. So the new part of the Assassin's Creed series is not only aimed at old fans, but also at new players who are attracted to the unique game.
