Rumors of a Steam release have been resurfacing lately, about two years after the release. The reason for the rumors is the inclusion of a Steam version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla in the Ubisoft Connect database. There has been no official announcement from Ubisoft or Steam yet.
Ubisoft and Steam
In recent years, Ubisoft has only released a very small number of games on Steam. The Epic Games Store or the Uplay Store is preferred here. When some older Ubisoft titles disappeared from the Steam Store in early 2022, there was more speculation that Ubisoft would completely withdraw from Steam in the future. One reason for the new rumors could, in our opinion, be the success of the Steam Deck.
Currently, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the latest title in the successful series from Ubisoft. With a release on Steam, Ubisoft could reach new customers and prepare for the release of the next title. Many gamers are reluctant to buy titles outside of Steam, in order to avoid having to manage and keep track of even more launchers.
