Asus ROG Ally - The new portable gaming PC shaking up the industry

This sleek handheld device belongs to the latest generation of portable gaming PCs and aims to shake up the market. The best part? It was originally announced as an April Fool's joke, but turned out to be a real project! Let's take a closer look together.

A handheld device that can compete with the best

The Asus ROG Ally runs on Windows 11 and is said to be equipped with a custom AMD APU that is considered the fastest APU on the market. The specifications are impressive and could even surpass those of the popular Steam Deck from Valve. The ROG Ally offers a 16:9, 1080p touchscreen display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, while the Steam Deck only achieves 800p and 60 Hz on a 16:10 display.

Is the Asus ROG Ally really real?

Absolutely! Despite initial confusion, an official Asus Twitter account confirmed the existence of the handheld. The elegant and stylish white design sets it apart from the Steam Deck and strongly resembles the best Asus gaming laptops.

Asus ROG Ally: A versatile gaming PC for on-the-go

The ROG Ally follows in the footsteps of other portable gaming PCs that have hit the market in recent years, such as the Ayaneo 2, the OneXPlayer 2, and of course, the Steam Deck. They all compete with the mobility of the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, promising to revolutionize gaming on-the-go.

The best part is that the Asus ROG Ally supports games from Steam and Xbox libraries, as well as other digital sales platforms. And just like the Steam Deck, the Asus ROG Ally can be connected to an external GPU or a larger display.

When can we get our hands on the Asus ROG Ally?

There are no confirmed release dates yet, but leaks suggest that the Asus ROG Ally could be released in October. The ROG Ally is said to be available in two colors (black and white) and two storage capacities (512 GB and 1 TB). Additionally, the device is even rumored to support VR - now that would be something!
