The last big shocker about Atomic Heart was in 2018, almost 5 years ago, when a trailer promised us an upcoming release of the game.
The Bioshock-like shooter, which was presented to us in the trailer, is finally, after all this time of waiting, available on February 21, 2023. The developers of the game have now revealed the reasons for this extreme delay.
Four Reasons for the Delay
Robert Bagratuni, Atomic Heart's director, lists four fundamental things that led to the delay: youth, ambition, innovation, and new technology. The expectations for the game were high from the beginning, they wanted to create a unique game and an extraordinary experience for the players from the start. But these ambitions often seemed unrealistic and the company started making cuts. This also includes the idea of a future multiplayer mode. This leaves Atomic Heart as a pure single-player experience. However, there will be regular DLCs that are supposed to enrich the gaming experience.
The game is supposed to be available next month for Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as for PC on Steam and Co.
