One Game, Many Endings, and Even More DLCs
How do you approach a game with multiple endings when you want to release a new DLC? Do you take the path of least resistance and canonize just one ending, risking the ire of some players? Do you try to craft a story that accommodates all possible endings, potentially getting tangled in narrative knots?
Or do you take the rarely trodden path of Atomic Heart? This sci-fi FPS has separate DLCs for each of its endings. The previous DLC, Annihilation Instinct, sent you back to the mysterious Facility 3826 and built upon the lore surrounding the fan-favorite Sexy Fridge. But the next DLC, Trapped in Limbo, takes it a step further.
Welcome to the world of Limbo
Limbo is a phantasmagoric clay animation fairytale world. It looks like a 3D platformer where you jump across floating platforms covered with gingerbread houses and evil toys. Sometimes you play a duck hunting mini-game and sometimes you transform into a goose. According to the developers at Mundfish, you collect apples during your journey to unlock abilities and weapons, as well as gold coins to unlock up to seven unique skins that you can equip in the main campaign!
You will also learn more about the story of Limbo and uncover more about your own past. The Trapped in Limbo DLC will be released on February 6th and will be part of the second installment of the Atomic Heart season pass.
