Avorion - a sandbox game for space adventurers

Space Sandbox Game Avorion is Out of Early Access

The space adventure Avorion of the small German developer team Boxelware is a sandbox game in which players start with a small spaceship at the edge of the galaxy. The goal of the game is to penetrate to the center of the galaxy. In the game world of Avorion, however, this part of the galaxy has not been accessible for centuries. The mysterious alien race Xsotan has caused so-called rifts in the space-time continuum to occur there.

You can only build ships with the special metal Avorion that allow you to get there. It is your task to improve your ship, create more and more ships, even build a whole fleet or empire, and overcome the rifts in space.

After three years in Early Access: Avorion released on March 9, 2020

The idea for Avorion had the student Konstantin Kronfeldner already in 2011. He developed the game in the following years first alone, until he could publish a playable demo on his own website. He then used the demo to start a Kickstarter campaign. The money raised from it allowed the development of a playable version that was released in Early Access on the video game platform Steam in January 2017.

In the three years in Early Access, the studio Boxelware, which has now grown to a six-person team, worked continuously on new game mechanics, the development of story missions, and the creation of races and fleets that inhabit the large procedurally generated game world of Avorion. On March 9, 2020, Avorion left Early Access. Since then, the first full version of the sandbox game can be purchased.

In Avorion, the size of your ships and their abilities depend entirely on the resources you have. There are no restrictions on appearance and number of ships. You can gather resources by directly mining, trading with other races and fleets, and fighting. For shipbuilding, Avorion offers a detailed creation mode in which you can freely decide which functions your ships have and how they are built, as long as you have the necessary materials. Flitzers, hunters, freighters or star destroyers: any type of spaceship is possible.

Avorion combines elements of the video games Minecraft and X

Avorion uses a detailed variant of the Minecraft block system to represent materials. The blocks in Avorion are freely scalable. This creates a great deal of freedom when building ships. The gameplay is based on the space simulation game X. This makes Avorion just the right thing for creative tinkerers and science fiction fans.

Play the official version of the space adventure with an Avorion key now and dive into the huge procedurally generated galaxy yourself. Of course, you'll find the cheapest Avorion key in the Keyfuchs comparison portal.
