One of the most popular game series is coming back
Rumors became an official announcement: Larian Studios is working on a new part of the Baldur's Gate series. And fans have been waiting for the second part since it was released in 2000.
A long dry spell is coming to an end
The E3 2019 gaming show had not even begun when it was clear: the third part of the Baldur's Gate series is coming! Almost 19 years after the last game, the series is still unforgettable for friends of the genre. The developers of Bioware built up a loyal fan base at the time, which is still looking forward to every new development today. Similar games like Divinity: Original Sin 2 have jumped in in the meantime. It is now the Belgian developer Larian Studios that is breathing new life into Baldur's Gate 3. The studio knows the great expectations of the fans and has already released an impressive teaser for the game. The work is progressing in the studios in Ghent, Dublin, Quebec and St. Petersburg. For this, the rights to the brand were licensed again.
Not a direct sequel
Of course, the title will be based on the rules of the fifth D&D edition, but there is no talk of a direct sequel to the second part. The combat system will probably run in real time and can be paused if necessary. First in-game scenes are still a little bit away. It is also not unlikely that the feedback of the fan community will flow into the further development of Baldur's Gate 3. Not much is known about the exact release date yet. So it remains exciting. A release in 2019 is no longer to be expected. The title is to be released for PC and Google Stadia. But other platforms could also be considered.
