In October 2019, Infinity Ward released "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," the 16th installment in the Call of Duty series, much to the satisfaction of their community. The new installment of the long-running shooter pleases around 85% of those surveyed on Google, and is further strengthened by the recently added free-to-play "Warzone" game mode. The upcoming start of Season 3, as well as the release of new maps, is also expected to bring additional success to the action shooter.
Since the 16-part Call of Duty series began in 2003, the game series has built up its own huge community over the years. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is particularly popular with shooter and action fans, especially the online multiplayer, as fighting together or against friends greatly enhances the gaming experience.
In a nutshell, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is all about one thing: shooting.
Whether you're playing the campaign as a single player or in various multiplayer modes, the goal is to kill all opponents. What makes the game so popular is the diversity: Not only the numerous weapons and attachments, but also the many game modes help the shooter to success. In addition to the classic 6-against-6 fight, there is, for example, a duo game mode or the new, already mentioned battle-royal mode "Warzone". This diversity of possibilities gives the impression that you are in a real war zone. This adrenalin-charged feeling is intensified by the incredibly realistic graphics and the detailed map design.
But what you can look forward to in particular is the upcoming update, which is rumored to bring new maps with it in addition to the starting Season 3. Since the new season will be playable from April 8, the maps expected by the community will most likely be released at the same time as Season 3.
In particular, 2 well-known names are associated with the new maps: Backlot and Village.
In an official teaser image of Season 3, CoD players clearly recognized the Backlot map already known from Call of Duty 4. And indeed, the somewhat run-down residential area with palm trees on the image has similarities with Backlot. So everything points to the fact that you will soon be able to fight in the traditional Call of Duty 4 location in a probably adapted, visually appealing style.
In addition, dataminers are said to have found and leaked another new map in the game files. Accordingly, in addition to Backlot, a location called Village is to be published. Many people know this name from the predecessor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but according to the leak, the new map will probably not be a successor to the famous MW3 map. For the name of the new location, dataminers found a minimap that bears no resemblance to the classic map. So you can look forward to a completely new combat fort with Village according to the leak.
So it remains exciting which new maps will actually be playable in the new Modern Warfare. However, the chance that the maps Blacklot and Village will soon be part of the 16th title of the CoD series seems very likely.
