Call of Duty Modern Warfare - Battle Royale reinvented!

Inspired by the 2012 blockbuster movie, The Hunger Games, a whole new genre of video games developed. The mechanics are incredibly simple. Countless players at the same time on a single playing field, fight to the death until only one hero remains. The era of the Battle Royale Games is invented.

It is therefore not surprising that one of the most famous video game series of all time, Call of Duty, jumps on this wave. In Call of Duty Modern Warfare, short CoD MW, this game mode is called "Warzone". The entry is incredibly easy, the game mode is self-explanatory. Either alone or as a team, the so-called squad, the players plunge out of an airplane, equipped with only a parachute and a pistol. After landing, they fight according to the motto until only one player, or one squad, is left.

Round process and tactical warfare

To gain an advantage over its competitors, at the beginning of the game it is about upgrading its equipment. This works via the finding and opening of loot crates, which are scattered all over the map. Helpful is also an acoustic signal, which is perceptible, the closer one is to a box. The content of these boxes is random, various weapons from shotguns over assault and sniper rifles to gadgets like drones.

The soldiers are under constant time pressure, as the playing field is getting smaller in ever shorter time intervals. These quarantine zones have to be reached as quickly as possible, because anyone who is outside the zone will be carried away by poisonous gases within seconds.

During the course of a round, the squad collects another important resource, credits, either from loot boxes or by completing small missions. With these credits, new weapons can be bought at certain stations, ammunition boxes can be requested or fallen team mates can be revived.

Due to the ever-decreasing action radius, clashes can not be avoided for long. Prudence and team play are therefore always an absolute must.

The Gulag and technical details

An exciting new feature for Battle Royale fans is the so-called Gulag. If a soldier falls in battle, he is not automatically eliminated, but he has the opportunity to fight for life and death in a 1v1 again. If you win in this atmospheric, run-down prison setting, you are allowed to return to the battlefield with a parachute.

Another unique feature of CoD MW Warzone is the massive number of players. While most Battle Royale titles are limited to a maximum of 64 or less, Warzone attracts 150 players at the same time. Thanks to the IW Engine, which was developed specifically for the Call of Duty series by the developer Infinity Ward, there is probably the most beautiful Battle Royale shooter on the market. The attention to detail of the gigantic playing field is simply genre-referencing. There are bitter battles for airplane wrecks, a huge stadium, a downtown area with skyscrapers, farms in the countryside, a harbor area, a gigantic dam and much more.

Free to play

CoD MW Warzone is available for free to all players, across all platforms. In addition to the Battle Royale mode, there is also another mode, "Plunder". This guarantees countless hours of gameplay.
