The Magic of Call of Duty Multiplayer Maps
Imagine sitting in front of your screen, surrounded by friends or maybe even alone, eagerly awaiting the next match in Call of Duty. You know that the thrill of battle is about to begin, and then it appears - your favorite multiplayer map. What a joy!
But hold on a second! Let's not get carried away here. Before we dive deeper, let's take a moment to look back at the origins of Call of Duty multiplayer maps and how they have evolved over time.
From Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare III
The history of Call of Duty multiplayer maps is long and rich in detail. From the classic maps of the legendary Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to the carefully modernized versions in Modern Warfare III, which are about to be released.
In their latest Intel Drop, the art and design directors at Sledgehammer Games revealed that the excitement over faithfully modernizing the 16 groundbreaking multiplayer maps was immense. Everyone on the team wanted to have a role in reviving these legendary maps.
Technological advancements changing the game
A lot has changed in the past 14 years. Thanks to technological advancements in animation and movement techniques in Call of Duty, players can now tactically sprint, climb over obstacles, and navigate alleys with the Tac-Stance feature. But these changes not only affect the gameplay itself, but also the look and feel of the multiplayer maps.
Estate - Update for a luxurious retreat
Players can now maneuver in and under the water and swim to a platform overlooking the area. There is also a larger military presence on the estate than before. While the original lodge offered a luxurious retreat, now there are information boards on the wall and a tank parked on the main road outside.
Rust - No longer a nest for campers
Remember the open pipe in a corner where many campers nested? It has been replaced with a small building that keeps the fight outdoors.
New maps and evolution of the game mode
In addition to the 16 modernized maps, Modern Warfare III Multiplayer will also include four massive environments, which include three brand new battle maps. Furthermore, Modern Warfare III marks the welcome return and evolution of the legendary War mode.
