With Call of Duty Vanguard, publisher Activision will release the next installment of its annual shooter series in November. After the developers of Treyarch took a trip into the time of the Cold War with Black Ops Cold War last year, this time the development team of Sledgehammer Games is taking on World War II. This will see the Call of Duty series return to its roots in WWII from 2017 once again, focusing on the largest conflict in human history.
A gripping story from different perspectives
As in 2017, Sledgehammer Games is also relying on a gripping story in Vanguard that realistically transports the player to the horrors of war. In total, the campaign has four playable characters for you, who come from different regions of the world and experience the war on different fronts. In addition to Lucas Riggs from the Australian infantry division, there are also Sergeant Arthur Kingsley from the British Army and Lieutenant Wade Jackson from the US Navy. With Lieutenant Polina Petrova, a female protagonist from the Red Army also joins the ensemble.
Notorious battlefields of World War II
The four main characters take on the soldiers of the Axis powers and fight for freedom and justice on famous and infamous battlefields around the world. So during the course of the campaign you not only travel to France and North Africa, but also experience the dramatic fighting in Stalingrad and the Battle of Midway in the Pacific up close.
Dark zombie story shows another side of the war
In addition to the singleplayer campaign and multiplayer part, Call of Duty Vanguard also offers an interesting story approach with its zombie mode. Already in the direct predecessor, developer Treyarch delivered an intensive zombie story as part of Black Ops Cold War, in which humanity is overrun by raging hordes of undead at the end of the eighties. Since World War II is of course set before the Cold War and the zombie mode is also being developed by Treyarch in Vanguard, you will probably learn more about the origin of the apocalypse in the current installment, which reached its dramatic climax in Cold War.
