Cities: Skylines 2 - What to expect in the latest installment

Welcome to your new city!

Just in time for the end of the year, there's finally news from the world of virtual city planning. And it's nothing less than the successor to the popular city builder Cities: Skylines. Yes, you heard right, Cities: Skylines 2 is just around the corner, and we at Keyfuchs have gathered all the important details for you.

What's new in Cities: Skylines 2?

The short answer is: a whole lot! The developers haven't rested on their laurels, but have been hard at work on new features and improvements. One particular focus is the upgrade system for city services. Now you can upgrade every building (with a few exceptions) to serve more citizens and better meet their needs.

Service Upgrades in Detail

The upgrades can add new features as well as expand existing ones. For example, you can add a ambulance depot or build an expansion wing for a medical clinic. Schools also benefit from the upgrades. Adding an expansion wing increases student capacity, and a children's clinic or playground improves the health and well-being of the students.

Service Coverage and Efficiency

Another interesting aspect in Cities: Skylines 2 is service coverage. Many city services have a passive effect that spreads along the roads in their vicinity. Efficiency also plays a major role. Both businesses and city administrations attach great importance to their efficiency value.

Costs and Fees

Of course, all of this comes at a price. On the economic panel, you can adjust the budget of your city services and, if necessary, impose fees on them.

Service Trade

Whether your city is just starting to grow or already thriving, it can benefit from service trade. This is an exciting feature that we will take a closer look at.

Districts and Policies

With the district tool, you define an area by its corners, and once you "close" the area, the district is created. Here, you can set specific policies that apply only to that district.

We are really excited about Cities: Skylines 2 and can't wait to build and manage our own cities.

Until next time,
