The city-building simulation meets realism
Hey city builders! Have you heard the news? The road and traffic management in Cities Skylines 2 is getting even more challenging as pedestrians make peculiar decisions about where to stand and cross. Managing the streets in this city-building simulator is already a tough task. With new highway ramps, roundabouts, and lane tools, CS2 brings some major improvements.
However, the proper timing of cars, buses, and trucks remains one of the biggest challenges in Colossal Order and Paradox's strategy sim. Unfortunately, there have been reports of a new issue: anarchistic-minded pedestrians disregarding traffic laws and simply walking onto the road, causing traffic jams that bring entire blocks to a standstill.
The Jaywalking Problem and Its Effects
In theory, pedestrians in Cities: Skylines 2 should only cross your streets at designated crossings. However, if these crossings are not available for some reason, pedestrians may gather on the sides of your streets and wait for gaps in traffic before crossing - in some cases, they may jaywalk.
In reality, pedestrians in Cities: Skylines 2 seem to disregard your meticulously built bridges and tunnels and simply walk onto the road. These notorious jaywalkers create a huge problem for your city as they disrupt traffic flow and cause congestion. This means people are unable to get to work or school, impacting your economy and ultimately causing the entire system to collapse.
Solving the Problem
The latest patch for Cities: Skylines 2 includes fixes for some peculiar traffic behaviors. While Colossal Order has confirmed that there won't be weekly patches anymore, the developer states that this allows them time to work on more significant fixes. So, the pedestrian issues may be resolved soon.
