The Previous Story and the Faction War
The faction war continues in all the restricted zones and it's up to you to claim a stake in this seemingly endless global power struggle. The third season of Call of Duty®: Warzone™ 2.0 is the perfect time to jump into the DMZ, as various new features will fundamentally change the gameplay experience. This will make it easier for operators to access contraband, keys, and other equipment. If you're interested in a high-risk mode with many permanent rewards, this seasonal update is a great entry or re-entry point.
So far, four factions are fighting for control: Legion, based somewhere in America, White Lotus, with connections to Asia, Black Mous, a decentralized organization, and Crown, apparently originating from or connected to the United Kingdom.
New features in season three
With the start of season 03, various exchange recipes for most new plate carriers and backpacks will be available. The recipes allow your operator to craft new equipment by trading items for others. However, each restricted zone has its own exchange options at their purchase stations.
Another innovation at the purchase stations are workbenches. Here, operators can add or remove attachments for contraband or insured weapons for a small fee.
One of the biggest changes in DMZ since launch are the "Active Duty Operator Slots". Each player has three of these slots at the beginning of season 03, each assigned to their own operator with individual equipment items such as backpack, plate carrier, killstreaks, self-revive, and gas mask. Before starting a game, you select the active operator you want to bring into the restricted zone.
New equipment items in season 03
- New backpacks: Secure and Scavenger
- New plate carriers: Tempered, Revive, Comms, and Stealth
- Rebreather Field Upgrade
- Skeleton Key
In season three of DMZ, your mission progress will not be reset. Additionally, the new REDACTED faction will be available to all players.
The heavy chopper returns and there will be a new way to privately extract from a restricted zone in DMZ in season 03. A new item, the Private Exfil, can be purchased at purchase stations and provides an additional escape option if needed.
