Premiere: Crossfirex conquers the console world
Microsoft is certainly not sparing any explosive news. The next one is already in the starting blocks: Crossfirex makes its debut in the console world. And exclusively for the new Xbox Series X. The predecessor Crossfire, which was released in 2009, has been known to PC gamers for a long time.
Three Teams Involved
The pros at Xbox will be helping the two developer studios from South Korea (Smilegate Entertainment) and Finland (Remedy Entertainment) to bring the game to market for the first time on a console. The South Koreans will be bringing their experience in developing multiplayer content. The Remedy officials will be providing their narrative knowledge, as they have done in the past with Max Payne. The Finns are also known for exciting and entertaining combat systems. So we can expect a real treat. The exact release date is not yet known, but we will probably be delighted with Crossfirex in 2020.
Gameplay and Content
Although singleplayer will also be fully catered for, the first images released showed mainly the competitive mode. Multiplayer teams, first-person perspective and the fact that only a few hits are needed to kill are all familiar from other competitive games, as are various mechanisms that will be present in Crossfirex, such as partially destructible level elements.
In terms of content, we will find ourselves in a fictional scenario. In the story being told, two private military organisations, Global Risk and Black List, are fighting each other. The former is trying to maintain order with veterans and the latest technology, while Black List hires mercenaries and wants to cause instability.
Not much else is known yet. But since the game is due to be released this year, we expect to get more information very soon.
