Exciting New Features in the 1.9.0 Lanz Update for Crusader Kings III
Today is the day we've all been waiting for – the highly anticipated Tours and Tournaments DLC for Crusader Kings III is being released, along with the corresponding 1.9.0 Lanz Update. Before we dive into the game and explore the new features, let's take a look at the most important changes that await us with this update.
Regencies, Diarchies, and Coup Feature
One of the most exciting new features is the introduction of Regencies. Characters who are unable to rule for a short period of time (e.g. due to travel) will now have a regent. There are also anchored regencies for characters who cannot rule for a long time (e.g. children).
The update also adds 13 new mechanical interactions related to regencies and abuse of power. This includes the introduction of diarchies, which allow for power-sharing arrangements between two characters, as well as the usurpation feature for regents to overthrow their liege lords.
Travel System and Caravan Master
Another exciting addition is the travel system. Characters now actually travel across the map and through provinces. During travel, there are over 130 new events to discover. To organize these travels, the position of the caravan master is introduced in the court. He influences travel statistics and takes care of logistics.
Vassal Attitudes and Nicknames
With the 1.9.0 Lanz update, vassal attitudes based on the personality of vassals are also introduced. In addition, adult counts+ rulers now have a chance to passively receive nicknames. Over 75 new nicknames have been added and nicknames can now have descriptions as well.
Economy and Buildings
The game's economy has also been overhauled. Building slots increase over time, new buildings have been added, costs have been revised, and domain limits have been lowered. The rewards and balance of almost all buildings in the game have been adjusted.
Other Additions and Improvements
In addition to the features mentioned above, there are many other changes, such as the addition of the economy map and control map with corresponding functions, the ability to destroy artifacts and receive gold in return, or the update of the Current Situation Widget for more user-friendliness and useful information.
