The Vision behind the Event Pack
Do you remember the first event pack for Crusader Kings III, Friends & Foes? The developers experimented with it to figure out which direction they wanted to take in the future. One important aspect they identified was the diversity of content and the player experience. With the upcoming event pack, Wards & Wardens, for which the community already voted in January, and the accompanying patch, some fascinating new features are being introduced. Both will be available from August 22nd.
Engaging Features Overview
In the Middle Ages, hostages were more political and legal guarantees than enforced captivity. In Wards & Wardens, hostages are a new type of relationship between a prisoner and a foreign court guest – they are living non-aggression pacts. A hostage-taker can deter their former enemies and provide security. But that's not all! Let's take a closer look at the new features together:
Perpetual Hooks: Long-Term Influence
Perpetual Hooks are a new type of Hook that Wardens can obtain on hostages if they treat them well. They are like weak Hooks in that they can be rejected, but also like strong Hooks in that they are permanent.
Eccentric Characters: Unusual Situations
The eccentric character trait helps to portray unusual situations in Crusader Kings III and gives developers the opportunity to expand on them in future expansions.
Nursemaid Court Position: Focus on Young Characters
Since hostages are usually young people, the developers have focused on expanding the experience of non-adult characters in Crusader Kings III. This includes the introduction of the Nursemaid as a court position.
Adult Education: Further Education in the Middle Ages
In Crusader Kings III, the education system for adults has been revised. The "Adult Education" activity now gives players the opportunity to attend an educational center and improve their education trait to a higher level.
