Cyberpunk 2077 - Phantom Liberty will be a spy thriller

In recent weeks and months, CD Projekt Red has released some new features. Although most of these new features were not directly in the game, they were around the game.

So, at the beginning of the year, the next-gen console update came out, which optimized Cyberpunk 2077 for the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5. There was also an Edgerunners Special in the latest episode of Night City Wire, which dealt with the anime adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk: Edgerunner, that's the name of the Netflix TV series, will officially start on September 13, 2022. To get into the spirit of the series, there were a few gimmicks from the series in the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update (1.6).

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.6

First of all, there is a new jacket, namely Martinez's, the main protagonist of the Netflix series. A new weapon and extended customization options for the Ripperdocs have also made it into the game. The long-awaited Transmog feature, which allows you to change clothes in V's wardrobe without losing values, is now also there. Last but not least, CD Projekt Red did not hesitate to hide new Easter eggs in Night City.

The bad news is that no further updates are planned for players on last-gen consoles. So if you want to benefit from future updates, you will have to switch to an Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5

Future Cyberpunk 2077 Updates

As an outlook on future updates, CD Projekt Red has already announced that the police system will be completely reworked. Optimizations to the vehicle and melee systems are also already in the planning stage. However, no specific date has been given.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Phantom Liberty

The long-awaited story expansion Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk 2077 was introduced in a short teaser. Phantom Liberty is a spy thriller that expands Night City by a new district.

Keanu Reeves aka. Johnny Silverhand will also be part of the team. The short video sequence looks like V is working for the government to prevent a threat from the New United States of America.

In the next few days, CD Projekt Red will announce more information about the exact content of Phantom Liberty, as well as the exact release date.

Until the release, we can only hope that the developer studio has taken the mistakes from the last release to heart and that the next release will run smoothly again. Especially in view of a new Witcher title this would be a shame.
