"Dark and Darker" update brings back controversial High Roller system
The debut RPG "Dark and Darker" by Ironmace was recently released, and since then, the team has been working on hotfix patches, like this latest update for the High Roller dungeons and much more.
"Dark and Darker" had one of those releases that just surprises, especially compared to other RPG games that launched this year. Ironmace released its debut game completely unexpectedly, much to the delight of eager fans. Since this recent release, the indie studio has been working hard on hotfix patches to better balance the game and improve its flow. The latest "Dark and Darker" update is small but mighty, bringing back one of the game's more controversial systems, along with other general bug fixes.
High Roller Dungeons are back
If you've been playing "Dark and Darker" for a while, you're familiar with the High Roller Dungeons and the variety of reactions from fans. Some enjoyed the higher entry fees in the form of High Roller Antes, while others preferred to have free access to them. In the latest "Dark and Darker" patch, Ironmace has revealed that the ante will be increased to 50 gold again. On one hand, this means that the content won't be flooded with naked rogue players. On the other hand, it also means that it will be locked for some.
Other changes in the hotfix
The change to the High Roller is not the only update in the hotfix. Ironmace has also made changes to attributes and a few spells of the wizard. The team wrote a accompanying message to the patch notes: "Our goal is to continue refining spells until we feel that the classes work well at different gear levels." They also addressed some usability issues and fixed some bugs in the update for an overall smoother experience.

Among the changes are:
- Fixed an issue with the status of the observed target's quick slot
- Automatically picking up the next utility item after use
- Added option to automatically equip utility items when pressing the utility key
- Changed character's base structure for better compatibility with more clothing
- Added new loading screen
- Updated logic of Ironshield
- Adjusted attribute bonus ratio for the wizard's Ignite and Magic Missile spells to 50%
- For now, all attribute options on all items will only increase up to +1 (applies to new item drops only)
- Adjusted High Roller Ante to 50 gold
