Fans of the Darksiders action adventure game series can look forward to the end of the year. The fourth part of the hack and slash game will be released on December 05 for Google Stadia and Windows. Users of Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch will have to wait until February 2020, but can already Darksiders Genesis as a pre-order on the wish list for Christmas.
The post-apocalyptic adventure in the Darksiders universe goes into the fourth round. It's been almost a whole decade since the successful series by Vigil Games saw the light of day. Meanwhile, the team is working on behalf of Gunfire Games and letting battles between angels and demons take place on a world that is no longer inhabited by humans. Only last year, players were able to take on the role of the apocalyptic rider Fury in this setting to eradicate the seven deadly sins.
Genesis is the prequel to the Darksiders series
Darksiders Genesis is the fourth part of the series. Thus, the tradition of making one of the four apocalyptic riders the protagonist in each part is concluded with this release. But the plot is not as linear as the first three parts were. Darksiders Genesis is more of a prequel to the entire series than a real sequel, as one can deduce from the title.
It is Strife whose role the gamers take on this time. Together with his brother War, who is already known from previous Darksiders games and especially from the first part, the fourth rider Lucifer himself faces him. The lord of darkness has it in for humanity and wants to wipe it out completely. Can the brothers of dark horse still avert the dark plans of the ruler of hell?
On the battlefields of the fourth Darksiders game, Strife fights his way through with his pistols. Equipped with a huge revolver in each hand, the protagonist causes noise, commotion and plenty of action. His brother War accompanies the wild dance of lead bullets with his sword Chaos Eater and hacks his way through the scenery and enemy bodies.
Here in Single Mode, gamers can switch back and forth between War and Strife. Alternatively, there is also a Co-Op Mode, in which two people divide up the two characters. So either one can hack away until the pieces fly. Those who have neutralized enough enemy forces also gain access to special attacks that cause a splash damage with a lot of power and a high body count.
Neutralizing the enemy's activities also fills up the player's cash register on the side, because the souls of killed opponents are the generally accepted currency in the universe of Darksiders. So always collect the souls so that the next shopping trip for better equipment doesn't end abruptly at the cash register with long faces.
