Hey survivor! The long-awaited Update 1.23 for the game DayZ is finally live on Steam, bringing some exciting changes that we can't wait to share with you!
A new sky is breaking
One of the most thrilling additions is the massive visual upgrade to the sky. The clouds are now more defined, and the transition between day and night is smoother than ever before. Custom sky configurations have even been developed for Chernarus and Livonia, giving the two maps a distinct visual difference.
Vybor Air Base Changes
The Vybor Air Base in Chernarus, also affectionately known as NWAF, has undergone an exciting transformation. In addition to brand new Points of Interest (POIs), the developers have redesigned the layout of the Air Base to do justice to its iconic status while offering something new.
New Weapons and Tools
The update brings with it the legendary DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), a semi-automatic weapon based on the famous M14. We also welcome the Field Shovel in the game, a compact tool for your survival needs.
Player Spawn Groups
To bring new players closer together, the developers have introduced player spawn groups. This means you can now start or respawn on a server at the same time as your friends and have a very good chance of spawning in the same area.
More Than Just an Update
But wait, there's more! In addition to these changes, the developers have introduced further minor improvements and fixes. For example, queue states and the time of day are now visible in the server browser. They have also rebalanced the distribution of high-tier weapons inside and outside the contaminated areas of Chernarus and Livonia.

And before you wonder if that's all you can expect from DayZ until the end of the year - no, it's not! The 10th anniversary celebration of DayZ and the annual Christmas event are still to come, packed with surprises.
