Dead by Daylight - The Kill Switch update puts an end to flashlight exploits

Dead by Daylight and the new Kill Switch update

Dead by Daylight has just released a Kill Switch update aimed at addressing a popular survivor exploit by disabling flashlights and perks. Dead by Daylight is one of those horror games that continues to thrive thanks to its constant release of updates to combat bugs and player exploits. The latest Kill Switch change lists a variety of features and perks that have been disabled in Dead by Daylight to address a common survivor exploit.

If you're not familiar with the Kill Switch system in DBD, it's because Behaviour Interactive occasionally disables in-game features to combat gameplay issues and exploits. These adjustments are temporary and only last until the developer has rebalanced everything and ensured a fair game for the fans.

The Details of the Kill Switch Update

The developer's post regarding the current issue and the new Kill Switch update states, "We have temporarily disabled flashlights and a handful of perks that could be used to trigger an exploit." So far, flashlights are definitely the most significant feature that has been removed. The few temporarily disabled perks include the rating advantage, the dramaturgy advantage, and the residual manifest advantage.

The Exploit in Detail

For those unfamiliar with the survivor exploit that the developers are combating, one could become invincible by using a flashlight while opening a locker in the game. This significantly hindered the efforts of DBD killers and made it impossible for them to win.

The Future of Dead by Daylight

It's great to see that the developers take the balance between survivors and killers, as well as player exploits, seriously. Behaviour Interactive has not provided an exact date or estimated time for the removal of the Kill Switch, but the removal of flashlights and perks is by no means permanent.
