Dead Island 2: How to Master the Zombie Carnage - Our Best Tips & Tricks for a Successful Start

Welcome back to the zombie paradise

Today, Dead Island 2 launches in many formats and presents itself in good condition. It is in many ways the direct sequel to the original game, as Chit Hot's Dead Island 2 review reveals. If that's what you were hoping for, you won't be disappointed. Along with that comes a wealth of opportunities to kick some zombie butt. But the game also has its challenges, so we've put together a list of things to keep in mind before diving into Dead Island 2.

Kicking or hitting? The right way to deal with the undead

Kick them when they're down
As expected in a zombie game, you'll come across corpses everywhere. Sometimes these corpses come back to undead life. A quick kick is a good way to find out if they're chasing after you or even getting up when you turn your back on them.

You could also hit them with your melee weapon, but that would cause damage. Instead, the kick is just as useful as in the original Dead Island.

The new move: Dropkick

In Dead Island 2, there is a new move: the Dropkick. This can be customized throughout the game and gives you an advantage in every fight.

Every attack on an enemy should start with a Dropkick. Your pause will be significantly shorter than that of any enemy your feet collide with.

Experiment with Skill Cards

Dead Island 2 offers six playable characters with different values. However, this will not be of great importance in your first playthrough. You cannot switch characters during the game, so you don't know what you can gain or lose by your choice. Skill cards can be used to promote strengths or compensate for weaknesses.

Regularly change the unlocked skill cards to find the best combination for your playstyle.

Modify your weapons

Weapon modifications are somewhat limited in Dead Island 2 compared to its predecessor, but they are also more easily accessible. Simply find a blueprint, go to a workbench, and build it into an existing weapon. Without exception, this will significantly improve your weapon.

Use environmental traps

Dead Island 2 has numerous environmental traps. If you see a container with a hazard symbol, throw something on it. If there is water on the ground, look for a battery or generator. There are always obvious signs of how to increase damage to hordes with minimal effort.

With these tips and tricks, you are well equipped to start successfully fighting zombie hordes in Dead Island 2. So grab your weapons and dive into the fray – good luck!
