Project Diablo 2: A Mod Breathes New Life into the Classic
Project Diablo 2 is a mod for the classic Diablo 2 by Blizzard North, aiming to keep the game alive through constant updates and improvements. The mod has been in active development since 2020 and has introduced higher screen resolution, a shader system, and many other enhancements. The latest season of Project Diablo 2 - Revelation - has done a great service to the timeless classic by introducing 60 FPS support for Diablo 2 and a range of other changes.
Project Diablo 2 has been active for about two years, releasing update after update for Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction to keep the title alive. The latest update season called Revelation has brought a major innovation for the title: a new graphics setting that may change the RPG's gameplay experience.
Season 7 Updates: From 60 FPS to New Maps
Aside from the impressive visual overhaul, the patch notes for Season 7 reveal a host of other improvements for Diablo 2, such as two new maps inspired by the first Diablo released in 1997. Additionally, the abilities of the game's various playable classes have been heavily adjusted, as well as rare items and unique weapons reworked.

- New "Open Wounds" damage per second stat added
- Open Wounds now stacks up to three times on a target
- Open Wounds now lasts for 5 seconds
- Open Wounds no longer has a penalty against Uniques, Champions, or Prime Evils
- Open Wounds is now applied by attackers taking damage
- Open Wounds now applies to area damage
- Two new map events added
- Diablo Clone and Rathma now have multiple difficulty levels

To try out the original Diablo 2 again, visit the official download page of Project Diablo 2 to obtain the mod on your PC. Installation instructions are also provided. The project developer recommends using legitimate copies of Diablo 2 for smooth use of the mod: "Using cracked CD-keys will result in a permanent ban."
A Look Ahead to Diablo 4
In other news, updates on Diablo 4 have been encouraging lately, although this was not the case during the gameplay reveal of the upcoming title. Some referred to the new iteration as a remaster of Diablo 3 and criticized the lack of major changes. However, sales figures seem to disagree, as Activision Blizzard's recent financial report announced "strong" pre-sales of Diablo 4.
