Starting on February 24th, Season 28 of Diablo III will begin. A new progression system called "Altar of Rites" will be introduced, which unlocks benefits and legendary potions for all characters on the account.
"Altar of Rites" provides players with a talent tree-like structure where they can use rare items and materials to unlock bonuses for all characters during the season. The benefits range from removing level requirements to movement speed bonuses and unique features like item salvaging through pets.
Another novelty in Season 28 is that players can use the "Kanai's Cube" to create so-called "Primal Items". When these items are later dismantled, they grant 55 "Primordial Ashes" which can be used to unlock later benefits at the Altar of Rites.
In addition, there will also be some changes to the Monk's abilities and class sets.
Diablo IV, which will be released on June 6th, is expected to have a similar seasonal format to Diablo III. However, there will be no battle passes and no additional power for the characters.
