In a recently conducted interview, some of the Diablo IV 4 developers discussed what to expect in the game's first season. New quests, story content, and exciting endgame features will kick off on July 20, 2023, with the first season, the Season of Malevolence.
What can you expect in the first season?
The first season of Diablo IV 4 introduces new gameplay mechanics and concepts to the dungeon crawler. The best part? They do not canonically impact the main story, so you can jump into a new season at any time without feeling like you've missed out on important story elements.
You have the choice
With the start of the first season, when starting a new character in the seasonal realm, you will be offered the option to skip the campaign and dive straight into the seasonal quests.
Seasonal Journey - The Endgame Content
Diablo IV 4 is packed with various approaches to endgame content such as the Paragon Board, Nightmare Dungeons, and the PvP experience in the Fields of Hatred. The seasonal journeys in the game are also considered endgame content and are only available after completing the campaign.

According to Joseph Piepiora, each chapter of the Season Journey will contain more goals than you need to complete the chapter. This means you have more freedom to choose your preferred playstyle.
"We listen" - The developers of Diablo IV 4
The developers want you to know: They are actively listening to your feedback on the game. Changes take time to implement, and the content for Season 1 was already in development in January 2023. However, each developer emphasized that they consider all feedback and will apply it to future seasons and updates of the game where possible.

Diablo IV 4 builds upon the traditions set by the seasonal content of Diablo 3. Of course, there will continue to be updates and changes.
