Despite the Corona crisis, EA is also releasing a new FIFA series game in 2020. With FIFA 21, the US game publisher will bring the most anticipated sports game of the year to market on October 9, 2020 (October 6 for owners of the Ultimate and Champions Edition). Players can look forward to virtual football in various modes. But to what extent does the latest version of the game differ from its predecessor?

Latest information on the new football simulation

A question that fans of the FIFA series ask themselves every year is which licenses will be available. Because this depends on whether the players can enjoy the virtual football with their favorite teams. So far it is unclear whether the Italian top club Juventus Turin will return to the football simulation with a full license. What is certain is that their league rivals AC and Inter Milan will be missing. At the beginning of July, EA announced that it does not have a license for the two traditional clubs. At least the publisher extended the arrangement with the Spanish Primera Division. Furthermore, it is to be expected that the English Premier League as well as the German Bundesliga will be available. Numerous other leagues are also to be expected.

Although FIFA 21 is to meet the demands of modern e-sports and thus contain some arcade elements, the realism is to be increased both in terms of gameplay and presentation. The so-called "humanization" is to ensure that the players behave more naturally on the pitch. Furthermore, the athleticism of the actors should have a stronger impact on the gameplay. As a result, speed, body size and weight have a significant influence on the gameplay.

Who will be the cover star of this year's FIFA is still unknown. This probably depends on which licenses EA can secure by the release. If, for example, Juventus Turin were to return to the game unexpectedly, Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the cover. We also know very little about the modes available. What is certain is that the career mode, pro clubs and ultimate teams are represented. Furthermore, fans of street football can prove their skills in the popular Volta mode.

Annual Changes

As every year, there are also standard changes in FIFA 21 compared to the predecessor. It can be expected that EA will make some optimizations in the Career mode, for example. However, the adjustments are likely to be more significant in the online mode Ultimate Team. The lucrative collectible card model has been in the focus of the developers for years. Furthermore, Electronic Arts will also update the squads of the teams represented in the game. Due to the relatively late release, it can be expected that they will be implemented in the game from the beginning.

Is the latest FIFA installment right for you?

Similar to its predecessor, FIFA 21 tries to appeal to both casual gamers and experienced professionals. This is made possible by the "easy to learn, hard to master" principle. The focus is again on e-sports. So it's worth upgrading from FIFA 20 to 21 for both casual players and hardcore gamers.
