Many fans are already waiting for the long-awaited game Digimon Survive for the Switch, Xbox One, PS4 or PC. But what is it actually about?
As the main character Takuma, you end up, during a camping trip with schoolmates, unintentionally in the dangerous world of the pocket monsters. You play through a mix of visual novel and tactical role-playing game. Fights and a dark story are at the center of the game. On your journey you will meet old acquaintances, but also new faces from the Digimon world. The goal is to get out of the whole story alive and with as little loss as possible.
You don't need any prior knowledge to play. Nevertheless, it is of course much more fun if the speaking monsters and worlds are still nostalgic from one's own childhood.
When can you fight
Due to the current pandemic situation, the appearance of the game has been postponed to 2021. This is already the second postponement by the developers Witchcraft and Bandai Namco Entertainment. The new release date will probably be announced in spring next year.
The reason for the release of a new Digimon game was, by the way, the 20-year Digimon anniversary. We have been enjoying the powerful pocket monsters for so long. The anniversary is also celebrated by developing fresh figures and monsters for the Digimon universe. For example, the dog-like monster Labromon, which is typified as a beast Digimon.
Among the human characters, Aoi Shibuya is new for the first time. A quiet girl who takes care of the group's supplies. Also new from the party is the always optimistic class clown Minoru. However, his carefree nature often gets him and his companions into trouble. His Digimon partner is Falcomon, a monster of the bird type. We have also never seen this monster before.
Exciting and new with the software is that every action and decision you make within your game progress can also have serious consequences, up to the death of other characters. Digimon has become more serious and grown up.
Digitize to the 90's Kid
For fans of the first hour, the game is a very special, nostalgic fun. The loving, detailed graphics in anime style lets you dive into the familiar world. The special 2D illustrations, especially in the fight scenes, make the game a real experience.
But even if you hear of Digimon for the first time, you can venture into the adventure. Related games from Bandai Namco that you probably still know and have a similar origin are, for example, Jump Force or One Piece World Seeker.
