DOOM Eternal - higher, faster and further?

Fans and DOOM friends are looking forward to the new part DOOM Eternal with great anticipation. The expectations of the players for the game are high, as are the announcements of the game manufacturer Bethesda Softworks (developer of games such as Fallout 76). No wonder that DOOM Eternal is already on everyone's lips, even though the release is not scheduled until March 20, 2020. The most important question here is and remains what the game has to offer and what differences there are to the predecessor DOOM 2016? In order to clarify this, in addition to the game itself, the considerations and plans of the developers must also be considered more closely.

Hardcore mode on a new level

DOOM has always been characterized by its different difficulty levels, with the hardcore mode being in the foreground here. Already in the first part of DOOM it was this mode that provided the special kick and game fun. So that this also remains the case with DOOM Eternal, the developers have conjured up special features here. The hardcore mode promises not only the well-known game fun, but also completely new dungeons in which the women and men players have to prove their skills. This idea of adding additional dungeons here makes it even more interesting to choose this mode in the game. A variant that will certainly also be very well received by the DOOM fans.

Battle Pass system causes discussion

In addition to the numerous questions about the game, the Battle Pass system caused quite a stir. Rumor has it that it was to be chargeable. This would mean that, in addition to the relatively high entry price for DOOM Eternal, additional costs would arise if the player wanted to play the entire game. But relief can be given here.

As the game developer Bethesda Softworks reports, the Battle Pass system will be free in general. The principle behind the Battle Pass system is quite simple. The player has the opportunity to collect XP by playing, which can then be used for cosmetic things in the game. So the Battle Pass system doesn't bring any advantage in the game, but rather serves the visual glory that the player can design freely according to his wishes.

New strategies also outside the game

The most interesting factor for the players is not in the game itself, but in the rethink of the company when it comes to game development. DOOM 2016, the predecessor of DOOM Eternal, was once again a convincing game classic, as one could not have expected anything else. But the game had a clear disadvantage, which was interpreted by the players as a criticism. There were no expansions for the game. So players had to do without new content and could only use the basic game as it was put together in development.

With new ways, the company now wants to offer something special to the players. The idea: A world that is constantly being expanded. This principle is known from MMO games. With DOOM, which is titled as a first-person shooter game, this is a peculiarity and thus differentiates itself not only from its predecessors, but also from other FPS first-person shooter games. This aspect makes the player's heart beat faster and the anticipation of the release of DOOM Eternal even greater. It remains to be seen what the game has to offer and what features will be added in the near future.
