Doom Eternal - System requirements now known

To Hell with the right hardware

Doom Eternal: id announces system requirements

With Doom from 2016, the ego shooter veterans from id Software succeeded in a spectacular comeback that thrilled old and new fans alike. After years in oblivion, the groundbreaking series was successfully revived with a focus on many of its original strengths. Now Doom Eternal overshadows its celebrated predecessor in almost every respect - but how hardware-hungry are the demons of damnation this time?

While the legendary Doom Slayer last "only" cleared up on Mars and in Hell in the most brutal way possible, in the epically staged sequel the home of humanity is also to be defended. In addition to the extremely motivating soundtrack by Mick Gordon, you have new weapons and abilities at your disposal that give the already fast-paced gameplay additional tactical depth and keep you on the go constantly.

Much larger areas than in the predecessor go hand in hand with the increased freedom of movement, of course, as well as threatening opponents who - just like the devastated metropolises themselves - are depicted and dissected in more detail than ever before. Is your PC ready for this brutal deployment or will it also face the Hell on Earth without prior upgrades? Below we'll tell you what system requirements should be met for the slaughterfest.

"Doom Eternal" on PC: What's Needed?

The minimum requirements provided by id Software allow you to hunt demons in a resolution of 1080p and with 60 frames per second, using the low quality settings. For this purpose, you will need...

  • A 64-bit Windows 7 operating system
  • An Intel Core i5 processor with 3.3 GHz or an AMD Ryzen 3 processor with 3.1 GHz
  • Eight gigabytes of RAM
  • One of the following graphics cards: An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4 GB), a GTX 1060 (6 GB), a GTX 1650 (4 GB) or an AMD Radeon R9 290 (4 GB) / RX 470 (4 GB)
  • 50 gigabytes of hard drive space

If, on the other hand, you want to dive into the fray at 1440p / 60 FPS and high quality settings, you can follow these recommended system requirements:

  • A 64-bit Windows 10 operating system
  • An Intel Core i7-6700K processor; alternatively, an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X processor or better
  • 16 gigabytes of RAM
  • One of the following graphics cards: An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8 GB), an RTX 2060 (8 GB) or an AMD Radeon RX Vega56 (8 GB)
  • 50 gigabytes of hard drive space

In short, it can be concluded that the minimum requirements of Doom Eternal correspond approximately to the recommended system requirements of Doom (2016). Another indication that id Software is firing on all cylinders with its flagship franchise, both technically and in terms of content.
