With the release of Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order on November 15th, the first game from EA will appear on Valve's Steam game platform and be playable. Of course, Jedi Fallen Order will still be available for purchase and play at Origin. With this announcement, the pre-sale of Star Wars for Steam has also started.

EA Access on Steam
What does this mean for EA Access users and what will change? This is not quite clear yet, because so far there have been no further news apart from the announcement. It is also not clear whether the price will change or whether EA Access will be able to pay for Steam credit in the future.
The multiplayer games of EA and Steam will be able to play together on one server in the future. This could almost be called crossplay and also facilitates the transition from EA to Steam and vice versa. At least for future titles this will work to what extent this also affects the already launched titles is not known.
Currently, EA offers two subscription services with Origin Access and EA Access. Origin Access is for PC games and EA Access for console games for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In addition to the supported platform, the scope of the games is also significantly different. The EA Access gives access to about 80 console games, which can be played on one or both consoles. In Origin Access, however, there are currently a total of 234 games in the Basic subscription and 245 in the Premier subscription.
Do I need an EA account or the Origin Launcher for EA games on Steam?
For the time being, both an EA account and the Origin Launcher will be required to install the EA titles on the computer. When this will change and whether it will be possible to link your EA account with your Steam account is currently not known.
