El Paso, Elsewhere: An Indie Shooter Full of Surprises

Imagine combining the classic gang shooter of Max Payne with the supernatural horrors of werewolves and vampires, adding the challenge and speed of Super Meat Boy, and overlaying the whole thing with a complete rap album. The result is El Paso, Elsewhere - one of the most interesting indie games of the year.

From Dogs at the Airport to Vampires in El Paso

Developed by Strange Scaffold, the versatile indie studio behind An Airport For Aliens Currently Run By Dogs and Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, El Paso, Elsewhere draws on the classic PlayStation look of the 90s and the slow-motion gang shootouts of Remedy's Max Payne. Designer Xalavier Nelson Jr. not only designed El Paso, Elsewhere, but also plays the lead role and has written a ten-track hip-hop album that plays during the shooter's levels.

The Gameplay: Shootouts, Monsters, and an Ex-Girlfriend as a Vampire Ruler

In El Paso, Elsewhere, players control James Savage as he fights his way through a reality-altering hotel and a difficult breakup, encountering a variety of monsters from folklore. The goal is to defeat his ex-girlfriend Draculae, the ruler of the vampires.

Quick Level Restarts and Challenging Learning Curve

With quick level restarts like Super Meat Boy, El Paso, Elsewhere aims to challenge players to master slow-motion rolls, jumps, and wall kicks to get past jumping werewolves and dangerous zombies. The learning curve is steep, but it's worth it if you want to become really good.

Release in Fall and Pre-Order on Steam

The game will be released in the fall and can already be pre-ordered on Steam. If you want to prepare, you can try the FPS game prequel, El Paso, Nightmare.
