Elden Ring: Reaching new performance heights with DLSS 3 mod - A look at PureDark's modification for an even better gaming experience

The DLSS 3 Mod for Elden Ring

Recently, modder PureDark unveiled his DLSS 3 mod for Elden Ring, which is available to his Patreon supporters. The modification comes in a ReShade package that also includes AMD's FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS). This allows you to adjust the sharpness, whereas the previous version of the upscaler only included DLSS Super Resolution and required you to add your own sharpness filter.

Owners of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards can enjoy another performance boost. With an RTX 4090 and i7 12700KF, the average frame rate in the game increased from 88 to 120.6 FPS – an impressive 37% increase. Interestingly, the 1% percentile differential was even greater, rising from 54.1 to 90.5 FPS, an increase of 67.2%. The frame rate at a resolution of 4K with maximum settings (including ray tracing) and DLSS Super Resolution in quality mode is almost free of visible artifacts.

What the DLSS 3 mod means for Elden Ring

With the DLSS 3 mod, RTX 40 owners have enough performance reserves to play Elden Ring with demanding ray tracing and even add some texture mods. This further enhances the graphics experience of FromSoftware's open-world action RPG masterpiece.

The ReShade menu includes various customizable settings such as Mipmap-LOD bias, enabling high dynamic range (HDR), NVIDIA Reflex setting (basic or boost), and even a reflex FPS limit.

Other projects by PureDark

However, PureDark is not only working on Elden Ring. A few hours ago, he released the DLSS 3 mod for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which had previously shown to double the game's frame rate. However, PureDark warns that there may be issues at this stage as the frame generation was not designed for use with FidelityFX Super Resolution. Additionally, FSR2 in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor leads to blurry graphics, which has nothing to do with the mod.

In addition, PureDark released a new version of his first DLSS 3 mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which he developed to figure out how to improve his Elden Ring project.

How to get the DLSS 3 mod for Elden Ring

To try out the DLSS 3 mod for Elden Ring, you need to become a Patreon supporter of PureDark. If you don't already own the game, you can get an Elden Ring key from Keyfuchs. Additionally, you can find many other exciting games for your gaming needs on our Steam Keys page.

It remains to be seen what further improvements and optimizations PureDark will make in the future. However, one thing is certain: the DLSS 3 mod for Elden Ring is a promising step towards an even better gaming experience.
