Escape from Tarkov - Russian loot shooter with tactical gameplay

Russian loot shooter with tactical gameplay

Escape from Tarkov belongs to the genre of loot shooters and is developed by the Russian studio Battlestate Games. Unlike many genre competitors, Escape from Tarkov is considered a tactical hardcore variant among loot shooters, where players can lose loot forever. The shooter has been developed since 2012 on the Unity game engine. During development, Escape from Tarkov can only be purchased through the official game website.

As a player, you dive into the fictional Russian region of Tarkov in Escape from Tarkov. The Russian government, the UN and mercenaries have turned the region into a conflict zone. The game presents itself as a loot shooter with tactical elements. The central element for gameplay is also the deep survival gameplay: as a player you have to leave the region unharmed to secure your loot. With increasing player experience, you can improve and customize your character with loot, the game's virtual traders offer you rare loot and items.

Realism with PvP and PvE

Escape from Tarkov sets out to create a realistic shooter experience with complex gun modification. It combines PvP and PvE gameplay, with extensive RPG and MMO mechanics that set it apart from many other games. The in-game economy is dynamic, allowing players to trade and exchange items and loot. A variety of maps are available before release, with the goal of the player being to get from one side of the map to the other, find rare loot - and survive. Tactical play is essential for success in Escape from Tarkov.

The Russian loot shooter has been in development since 2012. The alpha version of the game debuted in 2016, and a closed beta was released in 2017. Upon release, Escape from Tarkov will not be available as a free-to-play game, but as a traditional full-priced title. The game will also not feature microtransactions, according to the developer. Even before release, the game by the Russian development team attracted attention in the alpha and beta versions, and also won a passionate fan base due to its uncompromising hardcore gameplay.

Due to the high level of difficulty and the danger of losing loot through careless action, Escape from Tarkov is mainly aimed at experienced shooter players with a tactical inclination. Anyone who starts a raid in Tarkov should bring along enough time, careless attacks can condemn the whole session to failure. The game of the new Russian studio Battlestate Games is therefore mainly aimed at players of hardcore shooters such as DayZ, Stalker and Playerunkown's Battlegrounds.
