Euro and American Truck Simulators - Update brings complete lighting overhaul

The video games Euro and American Truck Simulators were released in 2012 and 2016 respectively. Since then, the titles from SCS Software have been very popular and are regularly expanded with new content in the form of DLCs. In the latest update, however, it is not about new vehicles or routes, but rather about the optics, which are a bit out of date due to the old engine.

Specifically, this is a new Lightning System that has been integrated since version 1.4. Unlike the previous version, this is not based on preset light effects, but calculates them in real time on a physical basis. Although SCS Software emphasizes that ray tracing is not planned in the next few years. Realistic light effects, such as shadows and reflections, should still be possible with the new Lightning System. Players of Euro and American Truck Simulators will probably notice the changes especially during overnight drives.

For example, street lamps now cast a realistic weak light on the road and on remote country roads the car light pierces through the night. If you can hold out at the steering wheel until sunrise, you will be rewarded with a realistic sunrise that bathes the road in a warm light and casts long shadows.

Fans of driving simulations place particular emphasis on an authentic driving experience. With the revision of the Lightning System, the developers are meeting the needs of all players and providing an even more intense driving experience.
