The "Europa Universalis" series for the PC was first released in 2000 and consists of a total of four parts. This strategy game is a so-called global strategy game in which you control the destiny of an entire state. What is special about Europa Universalis is that as a player you are not given any mission goals. You have the freedom to play either historically correct or ahistorically. No matter which variant you choose, the game goal always remains the same: You have to make your nation the most powerful nation in Europe with the help of your diplomatic skills, your military strength and your outstanding economy.
Europe is in your hands
The fourth part of the "Europa Universalis" series first came on the market in 2013. And although the game is now several years old, it is also a game that has received a steady stream of expansions over the years. The game now includes more than 15 expansions. Within the game, a period of almost 400 years passes, during which one can achieve sovereignty over 582 historically correct nations. In addition, the visuals and gameplay mechanics have been adjusted compared to the predecessors. You can expand your trade routes to Africa and Asia on a 3D map, send your naval fleet as a pirate across the seas, lead your nation as a dictatorial republic, or introduce a new state religion.
First Europe, then the world
But "Europa Universalis" does not stop at the borders of Europe. In various expansions, large parts of the rest of the world also play a major role. The DLC "Third Rome" is about the rise of Russia and the tsars. "Cradle of Civilization" deals with the trade routes in the Middle East, while in "Dharma" you are confronted with the states of the Indian subcontinent. The game knows no boundaries and with the countless expansions there is no boredom in sight.
Who is "Europa Universalis" for?
If you are a fan of real-time strategy games and have always wanted to experience or even change the history of Europe, "Europa Universalis" is a must for you. With the many expansions, you have countless hours of world history ahead of you. The comprehensive content may seem overwhelming and incomprehensible at first, but once you've gotten into the game, "Europa Universalis IV" offers hours of entertainment that you don't even notice how time flies.
