Red flags bring realism to the game
In F1® 23, the developers have introduced a new feature that makes the races even more realistic: red flags. These build on the existing safety car system and provide a dynamic racing experience. Depending on the track conditions, the system decides whether to trigger a virtual safety car, a full safety car, or a red flag. You can adjust the sensitivity of the red flags so that they are triggered by various events such as debris on the track, stationary cars, or extreme wetness.
Strategy under red flags
The introduction of red flags also adds a new strategic element to the game. When a red flag is waved, you can adjust your race tactics, mount new tires, and repair damage – just like in real F1® races. AI-controlled cars can also initiate red flags, but the likelihood of this happening is even higher in multiplayer events with direct wheel-to-wheel combat.
The 35% Race Track: Realism Meets Accessibility
F1® 23 offers a new 35% race track option for those who don't necessarily want to complete a full Grand Prix. This creates an ideal balance between realistic race configuration and strategy, where tire wear is crucial, without having to commit to a full Grand Prix race. The 35% race track was first developed for F1® Esports and provides a balanced mix of strategy and excitement. With this new setting, you can determine how your race weekend will go, and the races are more easily accessible in terms of time.
