It's as certain as the Amen in church that a new version of EA Sports' successful football simulation will hit the market every year. So even though the official announcement is still pending, we can assume that the new season will be ushered in with Fifa 22 in the fall. What innovations you can expect here is currently still up in the stars.

What is certain is that the new Fifa will appear again for numerous platforms, not only for PC and the previous console generation with PS4 and Xbox One, but also in a next-gen version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Is Electronic Arts tightening the screws on prices?

The virtual sports year is always ushered in by EA's Football simulation Madden NFL, whose latest version always comes out first. So it is this year too, because fans of American football can look forward to the 22er edition of the sports sim in August.

When looking at the prices, however, especially next-gen owners may have looked again for a second time, because here something has changed compared to last year. If you want to pre-order Madden NFL for your PlayStation 5 or your Xbox Series X/S, you will probably have to live with ten euros more than last year, because the title is currently listed for 79.99 euros.

Fifa and Madden have always been on the same price level

This news is likely to cause mixed feelings among Fifa players too, because the prices of Fifa and Madden NFL have always been identical at release in recent years. So it seems as if you would have to get used to more expensive games if you want to experience the graphical splendour of the new console generation, as has already been hinted at with the first big AAA titles for the PS5.

At this point, of course, the question arises as to whether such a price increase is justified in a sports simulation.

The Fifa series is not exactly known for quantum leaps anyway, as the current title Fifa 21 has once again demonstrated. There are of course always versions in which really big changes are introduced, be it the story mode The Journey, the return of street football in Volta or the introduction of women's teams.
