Fifa 22, the latest installment of the popular football simulation from EA Sports, was released on October 1. But since games can't rest on their laurels these days, EA is also continuously working on the further development of the simulation and has exciting events in store for Fifa Ultimate Team. Here's what happened in Fifa 22 after the release and what's still to come.
First Title Update delivers numerous optimizations
As with many other big and small titles, the fine-tuning begins in Fifa after the release in order to further improve the gaming experience. With the first Title Update, EA has already tweaked various settings and thus primarily improved the balance. So the extremely efficient goalkeepers were toned down a bit this year to make the game fairer. At the same time, the update implemented additional goalkeeper animations that are mainly used for high-placed finesse shots and are intended to create a more realistic image there.
Another area that the Title Update is focusing on is the behavior of the referees. They were very quick to penalize a sliding tackle with a penalty kick in the release version, even if it was well executed in terms of timing. The referees will be a little more lenient in the future, while a provoked collision with the goalkeeper should be whistled off as a foul more often in the future. Other changes affect, among other things, the defenders, who are now supposed to be more engaged and no longer just stand on the field after various through passes.
Even if EA has already delivered important optimizations with Title Update 1, more are likely to follow throughout the year to further perfect the behavior of the AI.
Exciting events await in Fifa Ultimate Team
The collectible card mode Fifa Ultimate Team has been one of the most popular game modes of the football series for years. Here EA regularly hosts in-game events, allowing players to obtain special cards and items during specified periods of time. So from October 1st to 13th, for example, the game was dedicated to the so-called Ones to Watch, i.e. the footballers who switched to a new club during the last transfer period.
